Gabriella Macari is welcomed to the Salon at USQ for an evening of fine wine from Mattituck's Macari Vineyards. All month long, USQ will explore the wines of Long Island's North and South Forks along with our neighbors to the north in the Finger Lakes Region.
While Macari Vineyards was created in 1995, the Macari Family has owned this 500-acre estate for over fifty years. Joe Macari, Jr. is now at the helm of the winery and farm, with a total emphasis on Biodynamic farming and sustainability. Joe Macari is condisered a pioneer of Biodynamics in Long Island and now has company with Shinn Estate. As you drive across the property, you're likely to see a menagerie of animals amidst his carefully-crafted vines. It's all part of the circle, and cycle, of what's being done at Macari.
Join Gabriella Macari for a quartet of delicious wines from her family's estate. The Early Wine Chardonnay 2010 and Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2011 from 'Katherine's Field' will have visions of oysterbeds dancing across your head while the chillable Sette Red MV and right bank-inspired Bordeaux blend Dos Aguas 2008 will have you thinking of anything from country pâté to ribeyes and roast duck!
Although no ribeyes and roast duck will be served, you may find a pâté or two alongside local cheeses to further inspire the food-matching potential of Macari wines!
Admission to this tastng is FREE, and reservations are not required! |
