Bodegas Muga Rioja Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2000
This wine has rather a solemn demeanour, both in its deep colour and in its bright, promising appearance. It is a wine full of nuances, ranging from those which mark its complex aroma, with almost candied fruit mingling with traces of dark chocolate and toasted, spicy nuances, to those which unveil as it passes through your mouth: supple, meaty and potent, with elegant, soft, fruity tannins. Long and open in the aftertaste. It is a proud wine with a long, lingering finish. Wine Advocate The 2000 Prado Enea Gran Reserva is 80% Tempranillo with the balance Garnacha, Mazuela, and Graciano. The wine is aged for one year in oak vats followed by 3 years in new French oak followed by 3 years in bottle prior to release. Dark ruby-colored, the wine’s appearance reveals a bit of age in a traditional style. It offers up a complex bouquet of cedar, pencil lead, mineral, spice box, and blackberry. On the palate it is elegant with ample sweet, ripe fruit, good flavors and moderate length. Drink it through 2015. Score: 92. —Jay Miller, February 2008.All sizes are 750mL unless otherwise noted. |
