Sake aficionados consider this Yamagata-based brewery one of Japan's finest sources of ginjos and daiginjos. Dewazakura's Oka started ginjo-fever when it was released to Japanese consumers in the early 1980s as an affordable and delicious sake whose iconic cherry blossom label made it hard to miss. These days the Oka serves as a cherry- and floral- scented introduction to the world of real Japanese sake (for those who have yet to move past the innocuous masses of boiled sake). A natural with sashimi, the Oka can also be enjoyed with simple fish dishes and salads.
