There are few places outside of the Finger Lakes where the word "Vignoles" has any relevance to the wine enthusiast whatsoever. Rarely (if ever) seen planted outside of vineyards in the Midwest and in New York's Finger Lakes, Vignoles is a grape hybrid created by cross-pollinating an obscure French Pinot clone with another hybrid grape, Siebel 8665. Anthony Road's subtly fruity Vignoles is perhaps the best expression of this esoteric grape, with loads of appealing tropical fruit and candied citrus aromas and flavors. This isn't cloyingly sweet, mind you, as the wine has plenty of refreshing acidity to keep the fruit flavors in balance and pair well with spicy foods. Singapore Mai Fun, green curried shrimp, or Sriracha-accented sauces do well when paired with this delicious white wine.
