The 2004 Prado Enea is poised to become one of Muga's greatest wines of the decade, joining the luscious 2000, and sublime 2001 bottlings in the pantheon of cellar worthy Riojas. This is still quite youthful for a Gran Reserva, with dark fruit aromas and flavors that have only just started to reveal the tobacco, leather, and cedar spice one expects from an aged Rioja. We've enjoyed several of these since release, and plan on cellaring a case for enjoyment over the next decade and beyond. Serve this classic Rioja with roasted or grilled lamb, cured meats, or suckling pig over savory beans and crispy sage.
