The Les Combes vineyard is the source of grapes and namesake for this cuvée from Clos Saint Jean. One of three limited bottlings from this estate, the Combe des Fous tends to be a bit more suave than the Deus Ex Machina and Sanctus Sanctorum cuvées. These are our last bottles. |

Wine Spectator
"Dark and pure, with lots of raspberry and blackberry ganache held together by racy graphite, mocha, mineral and black licorice notes. The long finish is rich and structured, with silky tannins. Best from 2008 through 2021." James Molesworth

"The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape La Combe des Fous, a blend of 60% Grenache (from vines planted in 1905) aged in foudre, 20% Syrah (aged in small oak), and the balance 20% Cinsault and Vaccarese aged in larger wood vessels, exhibits a dark ruby/purple color and a gorgeous nose of spring flowers intermixed with truffle, blueberry, blackberry, and kirsch liqueur. Medium to full-bodied, dense, chewy, and complex, this is a stunning 2004 that can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15+ years." Robert Parker

"Ruby-red. Expressive, enticingly floral aromas of raspberry, lavender and rose. Very fresh and elegantly styled, with sweet red berry flavors framed by silky tannins and accented by minerals on the long finish. This offers excellent focus and energy." Josh Raynolds
