Kirsch, espresso and bitter chocolate flavors have intensity and depth in this bold red. Muscular tannins keep the syrupy texture in check. A bit candied, but expressive. Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cariņena, Syrah and Merlot. Drink now through 2014. 200 cases imported.

Wine Advocate
The purple-colored 2004 Amadis is composed of 35% Carinena, 30% Garnacha, and the balance Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. It was aged in French oak for 12 months. Purple in color with a roasted bouquet of mineral, truffle, espresso, blueberry, and black cherry, on the palate this structured effort has plenty of material but is austere and lacking generosity. Give this intellectually-styled Priorat 6-8 years of additional cellaring in the hopes that it will blossom and proceed to drink it through 2024. -- Jay Miller
