Notes from the winery:
January, 2010: This has tightened up quite a bit, give it time. Hold.
February, 2009: While this starts off tight it opens quickly and is becoming more revealing and giving than it has been over the past several months. A very elegant melding of fresh, bright red fruit and sweet earthen minerality with floral notes and a touch of baking spice. This is integrating well but will be even better with another year or two of bottle age. Drink now with an hour plus decant or hold.
January, 2008: We hope you enjoy our first bottling from the cool Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley. The fresh, high-toned red fruit, and excellent balance really highlight the pretty and seductive side of California’s Russian River Valley. This is a Pinot lover’s Pinot and we are hoping that we can offer more in the future.
BurghoundLight ruby. An airy upper register nose of red cherry and pinot fruit that is ever so lightly spiced leads to nicely balanced, rich and almost delicate barely middle weight flavors that possess excellent flavor authority and more finishing power and persistence than the size and weight of the flavors would suggest. This is lovely and decidedly understated in personality and will please those who appreciate restrained pinot. In a word, lovely. OutstandingAllen Meadows
