Wine Advocate
The 2008 Vougeot Les Petits Vougeots – whose proximity geographically, geologically, and stylistically to Les Amoureuses or Hauts Doix, he says, should have argued for classifying it as a Chambolle – is deeper in color, richer in texture, and sweeter in fruit than the wines that preceded it in Fourrier’s line-up. Its ripe plum and raspberry fruit is still bright and sassy, though, and cherry pit and chalk lend a certain austere undertone. Wafting, bittersweet iris and narcissus florality, pungent crushed stone, salt, and sheer fresh fruit juiciness all convey a vibrant sense of interplay and refreshment that you can’t get off of your tongue. I expect this to repay a decade of close attention.

Bright, full red. Black raspberry aroma complicated by flinty minerality and lifted by floral perfume. Less precise than the Gruenchers-or is it simply more advanced in its malolactic fermentation? A rounder and more pliant wine, with a dominant flavor of black cherry and good volume. This has the mid-palate fullness to support its tannins. Finishes with good grip. A rather Chambolle style of wine-not surprising, as these vines are not far from Les Amoureuses.

An extremely pretty and pure red pinot fruit nose leads to minerally, intense and precise middle weight flavors that culminate in a firm, complex and lingering finish. This is really quite refined and its proximity to Chambolle is in evidence.
