2006 marked the first time team Hirsch bottled a third pinot noir from their impeccably maintained vineyards. This limited cuvee undergoes different barrel-aging and is crafted with a totally different blend of pinot fruit sourced from various vineyard blocks and barrels, 19 in total. Though it’s similar in color to the estate blend, the M sports riper strawberry aromas, and a sublimely focused beam of dark cherry fruit flavors, that seem to last for minutes.

Three decades ago David Hirsch had an idea to rehabilitate the once-beautiful Sonoma Coast area north of Jenner, whose redwood trees had been clear-cut by loggers, and the remaining land scoured of vegetation by herds of sheep. As a Burgundy lover, Hirsch planted his land to pinot noir and sought to learn about the relationship between climate and geology as related to the inherent complexities of the pinot noir grape. These days demand for Hirsch's premium fruit outpaces supply and bottlings from Siduri, Williams Selyem, and Littorai to name a few, are among the finest wines from the true Sonoma Coast. After constructing their winery in 2002, the Hirsch family has focused on bottling the best possible wines from their estate grown grapes. Wines are crafted with fruit from close to 72 acres of vineyard, broken up into numerous parcels that hope to best express their various geologies through a dizzying combination of various rootstocks, vine spacings, and clonal selections. In our experience, Hirsch Vineyards handcrafts some of the most distinctive pinot noirs in the United States today.
