The vineyards of Givry are located in the Côte Chalonnaise, a treasure trove of value for those looking to enjoy quality red Burgundy without having to spend near triple-digits on every bottle. In good vintages, such as 2009, and in the hands of top producers like Erwan Faiveley, good Givry can give many wines from the Côtes de Nuits a run for their money. This gorgeous Pinot Noir-based red is loaded with aromas of dark berry fruit, bramble, and flowers, followed by flavors of cool cherries, fruit soaked stone, and allspice. There's enough stuffing here to allow for time in the cellar, but don't be shy about decanting one of these now and serving alongside a roast pork loin with cranberry reduction and fingerling potatoes with frizzled sage and garlic. |
