While the rest of Argentina has focused on crafting opulent Malbec-based wines, profound Patagonian Pinots from estates such as Bodega Chacra have started to garner praise from critics and consumers alike. Chacra proprietor Piero Incisa della Rochetta (of Tuscany's Tenuta San Guido estate) produced just 800 cases of this elegant Pinot Noir from a handful of vineyard parcels in the Rio Negro valley, some of which were first planted in 1932. This cherry and lavender perfumed Pinot is supple and plush with plenty of kirsch and spice flavors through its elegant finish. We suggest savoring this nuanced Pinot alongside a slow-roasted duckling or herb-rubbed chicken.
