The Colchagua Valley's Casa Silva has become one of our favorite Chilean wineries for producing a varied range of high-quality Cabernets and Chardonnays, in addition to wines from interesting grape varieties seldom seen in the Cab-crazy Chilean export market. Viognier, Carmenére, Semillons and Sauvignon Gris are all unique wines bottled regularly at this estate, though quantities are limited, so these gems are seldom seen in the US. Thankfully, we were able to snap up a decent amount of their wonderfully balanced Chardonnay. Generous fruit flavors of green apple lead to a long crisp finish — this is more like a juicy Bourgogne Blanc than a $12 Chilean Chardonnay. Enjoy this steal with seafood risotto, duck confit salad, roast chicken or soft cheese.
