The search for another reliable source of Côtes-du-Rhône led to us to Domaine Pélaquié, one of our favorite rosé producers. In addition to their vineyards in Tavel, the Pélaquié family has a number of plantings situated throughout the southern Rhône in places such as Lirac and Laudon, which provide much of the grapes required for this affordable Côtes-du-Rhône. A traditional blend of Grenache and Syrah, this strawberry-, pepper-, and sage-scented red has loads of bright fruit character that lasts through its lip-smacking finish. Have this wine on hand while cooking, it's pitch-perfect for deglazing pans — it's also particularly good at whetting the appetite for dishes like roasted chicken with garlic and herb potatoes, or broiled Rib Eye steaks slathered in butter.
