We first tasted this luscious Macon-styled Chardonnay this past summer when dropping in for a visit at Barbara Shinn and David Page's gorgeous North Fork winery. Though this cuvée sees no wood during fermentation or aging, extended lees contact adds a subtle richness to the wine's crisp fruit flavors. With appealing green apple and hazelnut aromas and flavors that linger throughout each lip-smacking mouthful, this wine boasts all the freshness of a great Muscadet plus the round, supple texture of good white Burgundy — this is head and shoulders above the majority of American Chardonnays in the market. Serve by itself as a refreshing aperitif, or with your favorite cheeses, seasonal roasts, seafood, or mixed grills.
