Tom Jordan went from geologist to grape grower in the early 70s, when he converted 300 acres of prune orchards into a premium grape vineyard in Sonoma County's burgeoning Alexander Valley wine region. Today, Jordan's Cabernet Sauvignon is synonymous with classic California Cab; elegant and delicious upon release, yet surprisingly age-worthy. This isn't a tooth-staining, blockbuster Cabernet designed to overpower the competition — this is a food-friendly wine that sings with Mediterranean-styled cuisine. We're currently loving the 2006 Jordan, which flaunts aromas of graphite and sandalwood. The dark berry flavors and an herb-kissed finish are perfect foils for braised short ribs or roast leg of lamb.
