The 1978 Sercial Fasqueira was aged under the canteiro method from February 1979, transferred into demi-johns in February 2008, and bottled (all 450 of them) in January 2011. It has a lifted bouquet, almost light and airy at first, with scents of wax resin, linseed, sesame oil and walnut that waft from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity on the entry. There is a tautness and weightless quality to this Sercial, which boasts precise notes of bitter lemon, marmalade and quince mixed with chestnut and thyme on the focused finish. It is elegant and refined, a succinct expression of Sercial.
