Alambique Serrano “3 Años” 1st Edition is a landmark aged expression from the third-generation Krassel family, a testament to their century-old distilling heritage in the remote mountains of Santa Maria Tlalixtac, Oaxaca. This exceptional aguardiente showcases a masterful blend of spirits from two different still types, creating a rum of remarkable depth and complexity.
Crafted from the juice of 100% fresh Java sugarcane that is naturally fermented with ambient yeast, this spirit combines distillate from the family's unique Krassel column still with spirit from a classic copper alembic pot still. This thoughtful 12-cask blend was then laid to rest for a minimum of three years (with components aged 38-40 months) in new French Oak barrels within a humid underground cellar. It was then gently proofed to 46.1% ABV with distilled water sourced from the local Río Blanco.
This meticulous process yields a sophisticated rum with no added sugar or coloring. The nose is a delightful symphony of orange peel, warm cinnamon roll, apple juice, and raisin cake, all accented by a touch of black pepper. The palate is rich and dynamic, delivering notes of cinnamon butter, rolled oats, and bright orange marmalade, with a playful spice reminiscent of red hots that gives way to a surprisingly cool and lingering menthol finish. This is a complex and deeply flavorful spirit, perfect for contemplative sipping.
