MilHoc Le Premier-Ne Whisky represents a bold and visionary step into the world of French whisky, born from the vision of Denis Lesgourgues of the iconic Armagnac house, Château de Laubade. "Le Premier-Ne," or 'The First-Born,' masterfully leverages the rich terroir of Gascony and the Lesgourgues family's profound expertise in crafting exceptional spirits.
The journey of this unique whisky begins with sustainably cultivated, estate-grown corn from Château de Laubade's own 45 acres , which comprises 54% of the mashbill alongside 46% French malted barley. The spirit is then distilled in a single, continuous pass through a traditional Armagnac copper column still, which has been in use since 1974. This slow, gentle distillation yields a lower-proof spirit prized for its deep flavor and aromatic complexity.
This whisky is patiently aged for 4 to 5 years in a curated selection of barrels, including new French and American oak, first-fill Bourbon casks, and, most notably, casks seasoned with Château de Laubade's own renowned Armagnac. Bottled at 45% ABV with its natural color and without chill-filtration, it delivers a pure and authentic experience. Expect an inviting nose of citrus zest, toasted wood, vanilla, and soft spices , leading to a palate that is remarkably rich yet silky, round, and beautifully balanced, culminating in a long, elegant finish.
