Thanks to the will of two generations, the Château de la Bonnelière regained its nobility and its original vocation, vineyards and wine. In 1976, Pierre Plouzeau bought the family property, renovated the castle and replanted the vineyards. His son, Marc, took over the domain in 1999, continuing to develop, going fully organic and perfecting the cellar. The Touraine Ante Phyloxera Clos de Maulevrie comes from only 0.3 ha. on a south-facing slope parcel, which survived the phylloxera attack in 1860. These are ungrafted vines which remain one of the last testimonies of what wine was like in its own right. Indigenous yeasts only, organic, but not certified. (from the importer)
